Vientiane province cancels tourism development in Vangvieng after locals object
VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – A feasibility study of a tourism project in Huay Sa Ngao, Phoudindaeng, and Park Poc villages in Vangvieng district, Vientiane province, has been cancelled after local residents objected to the proposed 150-hectare development.
District Governor Mr Khamphong Duangvilay told Vientiane Times yesterday the scheme had been cancelled because the site earmarked for development encroached onto the main town, while the project was not compatible with the area’s reputation for scenic beauty.
