Xanakham district authorities in Vientiane province say the deaths of 25 cattle were caused by haemorrhagic fever and that no ingestion of toxic chemicals was involved. The animals died between May 17 and 22 in Xanakham district. On May 17, 13 buffalo were found dead in Naxomboun village, while on May 19 two cows died in Phonsavath village. On May 22, 10 more cattle were found dead in Sengchaleun village.
