LUANG PRABANG, Laos (Vientiane Times/ANN) – In about two years from now, Lao-Chinese trains will emerge from a tunnel, cross the Mekong River railway bridge in Luang Prabang and then quickly disappear inside another mountain.
At the bridge site, the river is about one kilometre wide, and passenger trains will travel at around 160 km per hour while freight will make its way past at 120 km per hour.
