Water treatment plant planned for Vangvieng
VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – More care needs to be taken with regard to the Xong River in Vangvieng district, Vientiane province, as untreated wastewater and sewerage is being discharged by hotels, guesthouses and restaurants that line the river.
Vangvieng is a tourist hotspot and the scenic river lies at the heart of its appeal. If the river is unclean, people will no longer be so keen to swim, tube or kayak in it, especially near the riverbank. Businesses may close and tourists may leave.
