Saravan road upgrades open up province’s rural areas
Newly completed road construction in Saravan will improve access, particularly in poorer areas of the province, to markets, schools, health centres and public services.
An official inauguration of new roads took place this week under Phase 6 of the Rural Infrastructure Programme in Samuay and Ta-oy districts, Saravan province, under German cooperation through the KfW Development Bank.
According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Phase 6 of the road project began in 2015 and was recently completed. In total, 122 km of rural roads have been rehabilitated and improved in Samuay and Ta-oy districts, taking into account the need for protection against weather extremes.
