New HIV infections in Laos double over past year
VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – The number of people newly infected with HIV in 2018 was double the number in 2017 among at-risk groups, according to a health official.
Country Programme Manager of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation Laos, Ms Chintana Somkhane, said records showed that from 1990-2018 close to 12,000 people developed HIV with almost 1,500 people becoming infected in 2017.
